Latest company news about China's civilian drone has completed the world's first transport of materials to Mount Qomolangma at an altitude of 6,000 meters

Kathmandu/SHENZHEN, June 5 (Xinhua) -- Shenzhen DJI Innovation Technology Co., LTD., a well-known drone enterprise, announced on the 5th that the company recently completed the first civilian UAV high-altitude transport test on the Nepalese side of Mount Everest with the assistance of other organizations. This is also the world's first round trip transport test of civilian carrying drones on routes from 5,300 meters to 6,000 meters above sea level, creating the highest altitude transport record for civilian drones. According to reports, the DJI UAV test team conducted a one-week UAV high-altitude flight and transportation capability test at the south slope base camp of Mount Everest at an altitude of 5,364 meters and above on April 25, and effectively verified the adaptability of the UAV to hover, no-load flight and load flight on the plateau. The team "set up" a drone transport route between the base camp on the south slope of Everest and Camp 1, carrying oxygen cylinders up and garbage down. Tests show that the flying drone FC30 can fly at an altitude of up to 6,191.8 meters in the Everest region, and can carry a stable weight of 15 kilograms at an altitude of 6,000 meters.

It is reported that after the successful test, the local UAV operating company in Nepal has opened the normal transport project of carrying drones in the Everest region on May 22, mainly including cleaning up the residual garbage on the south slope of Everest. "This means that soon, drones can transport equipment to Camp 1 day and night, and they can also use drones to bring down the remaining waste and excrement from the camp." We don't have to cross the glacier so often at night, it saves more lives." Mingma Sherpa, a Nepalese mountain guide.

The Khumbu Glacier on the road from Big Ben Camp to Camp 1 on the south slope of Mount Everest is the first major obstacle to climbing the south slope, and it is also one of the most complex and dangerous areas in the south slope mountaineering geography. Mingema said the Khumbu Glacier area is so complex, crisscrossed by crevres, that a Sherpa guide may have to cross the Khumbu Glacier more than 30 times in a season to transport oxygen cylinders, gas canisters, tents, food, ropes and other supplies. Although the Everest region has supported helicopter transport, there are often times when the dispatch is not timely, can not fly, can not land and so on, and the cost is high.

Zhang Xiaonan, DJI's senior director of corporate strategy and spokesman, said that the DJI carrier aircraft acquired valuable flight parameters for ultra-high altitude areas during the test flight, which will lay a more solid foundation for the use of drones in plateau areas.
